This is cartographic fanart for another alternate history timeline I like. The title, as the deviation title suggests, is the "The Kingdom of the North" and involves Hardaknut, son of King Knut the Great, living longer than OTL, and his empire surviving past his death. This map shows the evolved form of this empire, the Kingdom of the North, in the 17th century. (The title came about when one king got sick of listening to the herald reading all his titles and told him to just call him "King of the North")

The map is in Danish with many of the names being influenced by either Danish or Norse. Nothing so great as to be unrecognizeable to our eyes, but enough to give it a sort of foreign feel. (Well, foreign to all you non-Scandinavians out there, anyway)

It's probably not the most plausible timeline around, but it's a very fun and interesting read.

Here's a link to the timeline in question: [link]

"Kingdom of the North" - Nordrige is a fine name for a country in the nordic languages, but you should really try to come up with a more original enlgish name for the kingdom. The Kingdom of the North is such a overused almost cliche name popularized by Game of Thrones that is so generic and vague it doesn't have a speck of originallity to it. Despite my critics of the choice of name I really liked the map though. :)
